{"id":9656,"date":"2023-09-21T10:17:25","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T14:17:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/?p=9656"},"modified":"2023-09-21T10:17:25","modified_gmt":"2023-09-21T14:17:25","slug":"the-hidden-depths-of-the-mass-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/the-hidden-depths-of-the-mass-7\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hidden Depths of the Mass #7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Importance of Music<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Music has long been part of how people give thanks and praise to God.\u00a0 We hear of how the people sang in thankful response to God\u2019s action in their lives in Exodus 15, Numbers 21:17, Judges 5, and in 2 Samuel 6:5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The chief document for the way we celebrate Mass is <em>The General Instruction of the Roman Missal<\/em>.\u00a0 It speaks of the importance of singing at Mass in paragraph 39:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">&#8220;The Christian faithful who come together as one in expectation of the Lord\u2019s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together Psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles (cf. Col 3:16). Singing is the sign of the heart\u2019s joy (cf.
