{"id":9531,"date":"2023-08-10T11:19:35","date_gmt":"2023-08-10T15:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/?p=9531"},"modified":"2023-08-10T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2023-08-10T15:19:35","slug":"a-new-series-of-bulletin-articles-on-the-mass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/a-new-series-of-bulletin-articles-on-the-mass\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Series of Bulletin Articles on the Mass"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Beginning this week you will see a new series of articles in our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stmarystben.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=752cd901e208064397034f9bf&amp;id=ac86f24aa5&amp;e=1e6f6fe49b\" target=\"_blank\">parish bulletin<\/a>\u00a0for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stmarystben.org\" target=\"_blank\">St. Mary&#8217;s of the Lake and St. Benedict&#8217;s<\/a> that I am writing to help people better understand and better appreciate what we do at Mass.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll also post it here and on a page I will be creating on my website to include the whole series.\u00a0 Here is this week&#8217;s article:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Hidden Depths of the Mass #1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Why do you come to Mass?&nbsp; In the&nbsp;<em>Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/em>&nbsp;we read, \u201cOn Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass\u2026unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants)\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/stmarystben.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=752cd901e208064397034f9bf&amp;id=cf969a864c&amp;e=1e6f6fe49b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2180-2181<\/a>).&nbsp; We receive this obligation from God in the Third Commandment, \u201cKeep the Sabbath Holy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">We shouldn\u2019t have to be told to go to Mass.&nbsp; \u201cThe Sunday Eucharist is the foundation\u201d to living our faith (<a href=\"https:\/\/stmarystben.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=752cd901e208064397034f9bf&amp;id=73ed26da1a&amp;e=1e6f6fe49b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Catechism<\/em>, 2181<\/a>).&nbsp; It is the rich soil of God\u2019s Word and celebrate the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.&nbsp; When we understand this, Mass begins to be something we want to come to.&nbsp; Some people go only when they feel they need a \u201crecharge\u201d of grace.&nbsp; Do you wait to charge your cell phone till it is completely dead?&nbsp; Probably not.&nbsp; Don\u2019t wait until your spiritual batteries are dead to come to Mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Today we start a series of articles on the Mass.\u00a0 We hope you will read the articles each week to help you understand the depths of what we celebrate.<br><br>For more on Sunday as the Lord\u2019s Day you can read Fr.
