Appreciating the New Translations<\/p>\n

After the Great Amen, we come to the Lord\u2019s Prayer.\u00a0 Currently, there are various phrases the priest may say to lead us into this awesome prayer that Jesus taught us.\u00a0 In the new translation there is one, \u201cAt the Savior\u2019s command and formed by his divine teaching, we dare to say:\u201d At the Savior\u2019s Command \u2013 when Jesus teaches his disciples to pray (Matthew 6:9-14 he says \u201cThis how you are to pray.\u201d\u00a0 The Church has been praying this prayer for 2,000 years based on those words by Jesus and we will continue to do so till the end of the age.\u00a0 We are formed by \u2018his divine teaching\u2019 to believe as Jesus believed and to pray as he prayed.\u00a0 We dare to say.\u00a0 Why \u2018we dare\u2019?\u00a0 Because these are challenging words, to seek that God\u2019s will be done (not our own) and to say we ask for forgiveness as \u2018we forgive others.\u2019\u00a0 These are difficult standards to live up to so it is only by Jesus\u2019 command and in faith that we dare to say the prayer.\u00a0 Lastly, the words of the Our Father itself will not be changing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
