{"id":379,"date":"2010-11-28T08:59:05","date_gmt":"2010-11-28T13:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/?p=379"},"modified":"2010-11-28T08:59:05","modified_gmt":"2010-11-28T13:59:05","slug":"accepting-the-new-translations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.renewaloffaith.org\/blog\/accepting-the-new-translations\/","title":{"rendered":"Accepting the New Translations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One year from now, we will begin using the new English translations of the Roman Missal.\u00a0 Some people are not aware of the coming changes and don&#8217;t really care.\u00a0 Others ask, &#8220;Why do we need to change?\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t it going to be confusing?&#8221;\u00a0 I just read an article in <em>The Priest<\/em> journal by Fr. Carrion in his regular column.\u00a0 He uses the following comparison that I find an excellent comparison.\u00a0 So, I quote it in its entirety.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is like renovating your house.\u00a0 It has not had a coat of paint or new flooring or furniture in decades.\u00a0 It has gotten old, routine, and is need of something.\u00a0 You decide it is time.\u00a0 You gather the family to pick colors, furniture, designs, etc.\u00a0 This is no small or easy task as not everybody has the same idea in mind.\u00a0 Choices are finally made.\u00a0 Now it is time to do the awkward transition.\u00a0 The new look is unfolding; the old look is fading.\u00a0 The painters have taken over your house; there is no peace and quiet as the workers are busy on the extreme makeover.\u00a0 You are even having second or third doubts because the color looks different at home on the wall than it did at the store.\u00a0 The workers are finally gone, the new look is in, all the furniture is back in order.\u00a0 You sit back and take it all in and smile, thinking, &#8220;We should have done this years ago.&#8221; (Rev.
