If you look at today’s gospel<\/a>, you will see it begin with Jesus saying “The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,\u00a0<\/em>which collects fish of every kind<\/em>.” \u00a0I think that is all some people hear today and they think everyone gets into Heaven. \u00a0God\u00a0WANTS<\/strong><\/em> everyone to get into Heaven but if you keep reading\u00a0today’s gospel<\/a>, you will hear Jesus speak of how the good and the bad will be separated and the bad discarded. \u00a0There is a final judgment.<\/p>\n

Next, I invite you to look at\u00a0today’s first reading.<\/a>\u00a0 Here Jeremiah speaks of the potter<\/em> and the clay<\/em>. \u00a0My question for you is do you see yourself as the potter<\/em> or the clay<\/em>. \u00a0I believe we are the clay<\/em> and that we must constantly allow ourselves to be reformed by God as our potter<\/em>. \u00a0Each time we sin, each time we do our own thing, it shapes who we are away from what God has intended for us. \u00a0When we surrender ourselves to God, (for our sins, this flows through the Sacrament of Reconciliation<\/a>), God can re-form us.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I think some people today see themselves as the potter<\/em> and the clay<\/em> is the world around them. \u00a0They want to shape the world to suit what they want. \u00a0What has that gotten us in today’s world?<\/p>\n

So are you trying to be the potter<\/em> or the clay<\/em>? \u00a0If the clay, is God your potter<\/em> or is the world and material desires your potter<\/em>?<\/p>\n
